The Canadian House Music producer released her compilation for the Dj Kicks series a few days ago, and she´s killing it.

Last month I’ve been really active on the ‘net trying to find good releases to write about. I mean, I’m always listening to mixes, friends song recommendations, House music playlists, etc you get me, but since I started this project I force myself to find really new and good things to try and get out of my comfort zone.

In my early days of Dj’ing I remember myself as an avid music consumer; I could be the whole day wearing my headphones everywhere listening to this and that. But the point is, as I get older I tend to stick to the same old songs that I know I enjoy and my mind is ready to sing as I’m working or in my weekly gym workout. And I know it happens to everybody, but man, I’m still not in my 40’s, what’s gonna happen to my musical taste when I’m in my 50’s?

Anyway, let’s get back to what matters here: Jayda Guy‘s mix for Dj Kicks is a bloody good mix. And I’m glad I found it.

And I mean, you know it is good when for the first 20 minuts or so, she doesn’t even bother trying to mix songs, David Mancuso style. She’s just focused on the music. Like she’s playing for herself at home, enjoying a good glass of wine and flipping those records looking for that funky cover her memory hardly remembers.

Here she goes the funkiest she can: Kokoroko, Light of the world, Glass beams and more of the like open the mix. She’s playing for her, for you, for fun.

Later on Guy makes its moves, plays more contemporary House music; Omar S, Dj Koze, House of Jazz. Makes you wanna forget about COVID and go dance all night long. Oh man! how I miss those nights out walking out the hood, getting some shots around then off to my Barcelona‘s fav clubs.

Meanwhile I’ll stay home and listen to Guy’s Dj Kicks on repeat.
